Packing List

Obviously everyone is different and what you need to pack for different trips is going to be different, but here is a general packing list that has served me well for most of the trips my husband has done.

Keep in mind, everything you want to pack has to fit in your suitcase!

I recommend a soft-side backpack or duffel bag (my preference is North Face for their water-repellency). If you are flying it can be a good idea to invest in a luggage scale as well so you don't have any surprises at the airport. For backpacking trips, make sure you can easily lift/carry your bag. Obviously take out winter items for summer destinations etc.

Large suitcase:
  • 2-3 T-shirts
  • 1 pair of jeans
  • 1-2 pairs of yoga pants/hiking pants
  • 1 long shirt
  • 1-2 sleeveless shirts
  • 1 dress
  • 1 pair flip-flops
  • 1 pair dress shoes
  • 1-2 blouses
  • 1 pair dress pants
  • 1 sweater (fleece or wool)
  • 1 swimsuit
  • Toiletries: sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, nail clippers
  • Waterproof outer layer

Daypack (also carry-on):
  • Passport
  • Cash
  • Tablet/laptop
  • Phone
  • Ereader
  • Charge cords for devices
  • Earplugs
  • Prescription Medications
