Andrew and I took the opportunity of driving by to visit the Tokatoka peak, a strange looking mountain in the middle of nowhere. It looks so strange because it is actually the plug of an ancient volcano. The volcano has slowly eroded away over time, leaving only the hardened lava core surrounded by lush farmland.
When we arrived at the base of the short, 20 minute hike, we were surprised to find people we knew! Two of the German WWOOFers from our last place were just finishing the hike. We noticed them when a Thillo suddenly flew over the stile at the start of the hike (him and Markus both do a fair bit of parkour).

After the pleasant surprise and some chatting, Andrew and I started walking. It is a short hike, but a fairly steep climb. It took us about 15 minutes to climb to the top.

As expected, the views were absolutely spectacular. Since it isn't a part of a mountain range and there are no trees at the top, we had full 360 degree views around us at the surrounding countryside. We could hear the sheep bleating and the cows mooing from the nearby farms. It was quite windy, but it was well worth the climb.
There was a survey marker at the top, that of course needed to be stood upon. Andrew climbed up first and then I climbed up. The extra four feet didn't make much of a difference to the views, but it was still fun.

Andrew decided to run on the way back down, but I found the slope a little steep for me. Thankfully he was quite the gentleman and waited for me in a field of daisies. I almost didn't spot him as I was walking down the hill!
We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch at the base of the volcano plug and then proceeded to drive to our next location. Well worth the amazing views if you happen to be in the Dagraville area!
